Keys To MaintaningFocus [1]#1. Know Exactly What You Want: The first key to maintaining focus is knowing exactly what you want, so many people can’t maintain focus on anything because they don’t know what they want, and in life when you don’t know what you want, life and people will throw anything at you, and since it is not your desire you will definitely lack the fire to maintain focus at it. “And Jesus answered and said unto him, what wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, that I might receive my sight”. Mark 10:51. What you are doing now, where you are working now, the course you are studying or who you are relating with now, probably is not where, what or who you are supposed to, that,s the reason why you lack or lose your focus every time, check very well, that job, business, career, relationship or course, is it what you really want or where you pushed into it? Life is too delicate to be lived that way.

“You can’t be excited on it and not be focused on it.”

— George Ifeanyi

The blind man was able to maintain his focus and got his sight because it was what he wanted. Friend, what do you really want in life? This is a question you must not ignore if you really want to succeed in life. You will always be excited on what you want.

#2. Pursue Exactly What You Want: You will always have the power to pursue whatsoever you desire. When you pursue what is not your desire, you will always be discouraged and lose your focus along the way, and you will always need external motivation to keep going, but if it is what you want you will have an inner push to pursue and be persistent even in the face of adverse resistance. “And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.” Mark 10:47. An American Contemporary Christian singer, songwriter, televangelist and pastor of the Wisdom Center ministry based in Haltom City, Texas Mike Murdock once said that,

“The proof of desire is pursuit.”

— Mike Murdock

#Pursue One Thing At A Time: To be able to maintain your focus, you will have to be specific and articulate in your pursuits. If you must make meaningful progress you must learn to maintain your focus, and to do this you have to pursue one thing at a time.

“You need to be doing fewer things for more effect instead of doing more things with side effects.”

— Gary Keller

Let me show us a scripture to portray this, “And as the king passed by, he cried unto the king: and he said, Thy servant went out into the midst of the battle; and, behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man unto me, and said, Keep this man: if by any means he be missing, then shall thy life be for his life, or else thou shalt pay a talent of silver. And as thy servant was busy here and there, he was gone. And the king of Israel said unto him, so shall thy judgment be; thyself hast decided it”. 1 kings 20:39-40. This servant was not able to maintain focus because he was “busy here and there”.

#4. Picture The Prize More Than The Price: Once you have discovered or have decided what you really want and you are ready to pursue it, be it a short or long term goal, one other key that can help you maintain your focus is, paying more attention to the outcome of your quest or pursuit, rather than being discouraged by the process you will go through to get it. The Bible speaking in Hebrews 12:2, concerning Jesus, it says “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God”.

“See the result and not the insult, the gain more than the pain, the ultimate and not the immediate, the prize not the price.”

— George Ifeanyi

By this way you will be able to maintain your focus till you hit your set target.
