The most futile pursuit in life is the pursuit to fine sometime you have not defined, every pursuit to find something you haven’t defined will end frivolously. Life itself is full of realities it is so full of possibilities and full of responsibilities also. Jesus said “You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free” The truth has all it takes to set you free, but you must first know it. I have come to discover that in life,
“What you don’t define, you can’t find.”

What is focus? when we talk about focus what do we mean? Let’s consider this portion of the scripture as we define focus. “And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, thou son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. And Jesus answered and said unto him, what wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.’’ (Mark 10:46-52)
1. AN ABSOLUTE CONCENTRATION
Focus is about absolute concentration on a particular course, goal or goals. “…as he (Jesus) went out of Jericho…. blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. “…And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out…” Prior to this time Bartimaeus’s was busy begging by the way side, but when he heard about the Jesus he stopped begging and began to cry out for mercy, he left every other thing he was doing and focused on getting his sight back by crying out to the Master, Alexander Graham Bell said,
“Concentrate all your thoughts upon the work at hand, because the Sun’s rays cannot burn until brought to a focus.”
— Alexander Graham Bell
What do you want to achieve in the next one month, one year or in a near future? be it in your academics, business, marriage or finance? whatever it is, concentrating absolutely on it until it is accomplished is focus.
2.THE ACT OF PUTTING YOUR TIME, ENERGY AND RESOURCES TOGETHER
Whatever you aim to achieve in life requires time, energy and resources to get it done, your ability to use your time, energy and resources on them rather than any other is focus.“…And many charged him that he should hold his peace… but he cried the more a great deal, thou son of David, have mercy on me.” At this point in time the only resources Bartimaeus had was his mouth and his voice, so he put them all together in other to achieve his goal of receiving his sight, Tony Robbins said
“Most people have no idea at the giant capacity we can immediately command, when we focus all of our resources on mastering a single area of our lives.”
— Tony Robbins
Focus is all about putting your time energy and resources together to achieve your goal or goals.
3.THE ABILITY TO RECOGNIZE DISTRACTIONS AND OVERCOME THEM
In your journey to the top there are so many distractions on the way, they range from cheap opportunities, less serious people and even unhealthy comments, your ability to recognize them, stay away from them and continue on your journey is focus.“..And many charged him that he should hold his peace… but he cried the more a great deal, thou son of David, have mercy on me…. And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.” Bartimaeus again was able to recognize the things that were capable of distracting him, so when they charge him to hold his peace, he cried the more a great deal and castes away even the garment that was used to identify him as a blind beggar, this also is focus, the ability to recognize distractions and overcome them, someone once said,
“Mediocrity is the result of living a distracted life.”
