What keeps fire burning, is the woods on it, fire cannot burn effectively if there are no woods on it, Proverbs 26:20 says.., “Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out…” there are woods that keeps the fire of hope burning, these are things that helps to keep hope alive. The fire of hope will definitely go out if these things are not in place. Therefore, to keep your hope alive you need know these things and apply them. Most times the real issue or struggle is not on having hope, but on keeping it alive, hope must not just be obtained, but must also be sustained, retained and maintained. For the past two weeks, our train of thoughts has been on the need to keep our hope alive, and last week we saw the three dimensions we should keep our hope alive. This week we shall be looking at the things that can help keep our hope alive.
“The greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances.”
― Martha Washington
1. THE WORD OF GOD: “And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.” Acts 20:32. The word of God is a most reliable source for hope, nothing in life triggers hope like Gods word, every time the word is released, and you hear it, it impacts something in you, Jesus said “…..the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life..” John 6:63.
2. PRAYER: “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God, And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Prayer generates a very powerful spiritual force that can break through the clouds of depression, confusion, and frustration; it has the power to shatter the plans and works of Satan, with prayers one’s life can never be at the mercy of the devil. If there is anything we should do always, it should be prayer, it can never be too much, yet it can be not enough. Whenever we pray, we free our mind of fears; prayer brings us close to God and makes us see nothing but possibilities. In painful and dreadful moments, the best option is to saturate one life with the presences of God, which is access-able and obtainable by prayers.
“You cannot be prayerful and not be hopeful.”
— George Ifeanyi
Many of those who become hopeless are those who have become prayer less, you can constantly enjoy God’s practical manifestations in your life, just by constantly praying to God.
